A regional training company has launched a new venture which will help the North East's workforce develop their careers as well as their health and wellbeing. The Staff Development Centre is a new initiative from award-winning e-learning company Learning Links Europe, which offers a range of business management and learner support qualifications alongside quality training in complementary therapies.

The innovative approach combines career development with health and wellbeing, Learning Links Europe chief executive Anthony Mason explains: “All too often we see businesses focussing on either growth or employee health but our combined approach mean the two sit side-by-side.

“The region's workforce is the cornerstone of our economic success; the Staff Development Centre will help employees take ownership of their own professional development that is as good for them personally as it is for business.”

Many employers are now investing in their workforce but some of the region's small businesses aren't. Anthony continues: “It's difficult for small businesses as investment in training means that resources are pulled from the frontline. We use online and workplace learning techniques to maximise results. Investment in learning has to add value to the bottom line and business leaders need to champion this cause.

“A commitment to workforce health and development will reduce absenteeism and improve morale and productivity. It is also key to staff retention and is becoming more influential during recruitment.

“A skilled and healthy workforce is better for business. We want to work with local employers who share our views to develop realistic and achievable solutions to help the North East realise its potential.”
